Running Blocklet server with Linux

This might be a noob question...But I saw running your own blocklet server is only possible with Linux or MacOS…not compatible with Windows OS

Since I don’t have a Macbook, I considered having a virtual machine on my Windows device for MacOS to run, but I saw that in itself has legal implication to Apple’s terms and conditions

However, since Blocklet server can also be worked with in Linux, I am considering to install Linux OS on my device. My question is, on a device running on Windows, to install Linux do I have to get rid of the Windows OS first? Or is there a way to run Linux like a subsystem, without having to get rid of Windows?
