Different DID on desktop web browser

Why does my DID change if I log in to DID wallet on desktop web browser as opposed to on my iphone?

Also, if I try to “recover wallet” in desktop browser, once I enter the secret phrase it asks me to generate a password, a profile name and pic. Isn’t there a way I can just use my current DID profile on desktop browser too?

Key Points to Understand How DID Wallets Works

  1. Unique IDs (DID): Your unique wallet identifier (DID) is generated from your secret phrase using a specific algorithm. Using different secret phrases will result in different DIDs. For instance, if you use a different secret phrase in your Browser Wallet compared to your iPhone Wallet, you'll have different DIDs for each.
  2. Password Usage: The password in your DID Wallet serves multiple security purposes but isn't stored within the wallet itself for added security.
  3. Automatic Locking: To enhance security, your DID Wallet automatically locks after a period of inactivity. This means that even if someone gains access to your device, they won't be able to access your funds while your wallet is locked.
  4. Multi-factor Verification: Confirming a token or NFT transfer requires a password, similar to how you use a password for transactions with your bank card.
  5. Data Encryption: Your wallet data is encrypted, meaning anyone accessing your wallet without the password won't be able to view your information. When you recover your DID Wallet, you'll need to enter your password again for re-encryption. This ensures your data remains secure.
  6. Decentralized Storage: All data, including your secret phrase and profile, are stored locally within your DID Wallet. If you recover your wallet using only the secret phrase, the wallet won't have access to any other information. However, if you recover from a backup file, your profile information will be included.
  7. Future Improvements: We're continually working on enhancements, including making profile information consistently accessible through DID Spaces when the same secret phrase is used. Stay tuned for updates on this feature!
