Just a poem in summertime
The sea is like love: you go in and you don't know if you'll come out.
How many have not eaten their youth - fatal dives, deadly dives, grasps, wells, unseen rocks, suction cups, sharks, jellyfish.
Woe betide us if we give up swimming just because five and six drowned. Woe betide the sea For it has ways of swallowing us up.
The sea is like love: A thousand enjoy it - one pays for it.

Deep poem and heartfelt🙏
Thanks I just found it on my timeline and translated it roughly, I imagine it can be felt even better after being translated properly 😎
Found a publication of it in English, you were pretty much there already to be fair but here it is:
The sea
The sea is like love: you go in and cannot know if you will come out. For how many did it not consume their youth – fatal dives, deadly dives, cramps, holes, unnoticed rocks, whirlpools, sharks, jellyfish. Damned if we will cut down on the swims just because some five, six drown. Damned if we will betray the sea because there are ways that it will engulf us. The sea is like love: a thousand ways to rejoice – and one to pay it.
Well was pretty close! I only have my reservations about the ending as the original refers to 1000 people to enjoy and 1 to pay for it. Other than that yours is perfect 🥰
👍
Did you translate yours with Aigne? Just out of curiosity 🤓
No I just used deepl
Nice 👍🏼
Thnx I thought I'd lighten everyone's mood 😉
you put me in a philosophical mood😂 might go and polish up the poetry book I never published haha
Go ahead! I'm sure we all would very much like to read it☺️
